Frequently Asked Questions

Is counseling right for me?

Counseling is designed for personal growth, and to help you live and enjoy a life that you truly love.  Counseling sessions are tailored to meet your personal needs, which may focus on coping and healing, to gain insight or personal-knowledge, or to identify and implement problem-solving skills.

If you answer yes to any of the following, then counseling might be right for you. Have you been feeling, “down” or “blue” lately?  Do you experience stress or anxiety?  Do you feel fulfilled and content with your life?  Do you feel stuck in the past, or struggle with unresolved childhood issues that negatively affect you and your relationships today?  Do you feel stressed or saddened by life’s challenges?  Are you unable to break bad habits and feel hopeless or powerless to change?  Are you in a life transition and/or facing important decisions?

How can counseling help?

The essential ingredient for effective counseling is a, “good fit” between you and your counselor.  I believe in a friendly and sincere approach and would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to see to see if my counseling style works with your personality and needs.

Counseling will help you discover your strengths and positive characteristics, in addition to uncovering your obstacles, weaknesses, and unhealthy patterns that may be keeping you from achieving your goals and living the life that you desire.

Simply stated, counseling can provide guidance, support, courage, healing, and hope to help you live your best possible life.

How many counseling sessions will I need?

The number of counseling sessions you will need depends on the concerns you have and your goals.  Sometimes as few as 3-4 weekly counseling sessions are all that is needed, whereas at other times, more sessions are needed for the best possible results.

Together, we will discuss and determine the optimal number of sessions for you, and of course, the number of sessions is flexible and may change depending on your progress and/or circumstances.  Although I will make recommendations based on my experience, ultimately you determine how many counseling sessions you want or need.
